What is #GivingTuesday?

#GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. #GivingTuesday was born and incubated at the 92nd Street Y and its Belfer Center for Innovation & Social Impact in New York City. #GivingTuesday is now an independent nonprofit and a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

Whether it’s making someone smile, helping a neighbor or stranger out, showing up for an issue or people we care about, or giving some of what we have to those who need our help, every act of generosity counts, and everyone has something to give.

When trying to move to Boston for the first time, it’s important to choose a neighborhood that fits your style and needs. Whether it’s to start a new job, continue your education, or to embark on a new adventure, Boston is a great city with plenty of communities to choose from.

There’s no neighborhood as desirable for recent grads and 20 somethings as South Boston. A quick commute into downtown Boston and an abundance of local restaurants, bars, and activities makes it a great choice for young professionals.

Southie is an ideal neighborhood for a young crowd who subscribes to the work hard, play hard mentality. And for those who love to get outside, the beautiful Castle Island provides a natural respite that is rare for city living. It’s a great place for long walks, a bike ride, or to see the sunset over the water. In the summer months, check out the M Street beach for waterside frolicking and sandy picnics.
